About Jacob and the Children of Israel

Beloved, Jacob having fought with an angel until daybreak demanded a blessing from him before he had released him from his grip. Subsequently, the angel blessed Jacob and renamed him Israel, which means power with God… Later on Jacob the prince of God became the father of twelve (12) sons, called the twelve tribes of Israel, or the children of Israel.

The children of Israel were enslaved in Egypt and Yahweh had risen up a great leader from among them in the person of Moses. Thus under Moses’ leadership Israel was delivered from slavery in Egypt, and after their departure from there, Yahweh led them through the Red Sea with an outstretched arm, and subsequently into the wilderness in Mt. Sinai.

At Mt. Sinai Moses the faithful servant of God had received the Law to regulate the children of Israel’s moral and spiritual life. The children of Israel did not go into the Promised Land immediately: rather they had wandered in the wilderness for forty (40) years before entering the Land, because of their rebellious ways towards Yahweh, as well as Moses.  During the wilderness wandering period, however, Moses would have told them about the Prophet whom Yahweh would have raised up from among them. Further, in ensuring that the children of Israel would have continued to the next level and higher ones in the future according to Yahweh’s plan, he would have urged them to obey all things the Prophet of Promise would have said to them, when he said in the lines of the scriptures below:

The Profit of Promise

“The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto Him ye shall hearken….” [Deuteronomy 18: 15]

Again,

Again, referring to Jesus the Christ as that promised Prophet, who Moses and others had spoken about, Peter said to the first century men of Israel, who had ran together unto  them in Solomon’s Porch after the healing of the lame man at “the gate of the Temple called Beautiful,” the following:

“…For Moses truly said unto the Fathers, a Prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; Him shall ye hear in all things what so ever he shall say unto you. [Acts 3:22]

“Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, ‘And in thy SEED shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.’ Unto you first God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away everyone of you from his iniquities. [Acts 3:25-26]

Consider the following: and make sure that we are in sync with First Century Advanced Strait- Up Thinking and Teachings:

The purpose of the Law

According to the scriptures, “The law was added because of transgressions, till the SEED should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.” [Galatians 3: 19]

It is interesting to note that a mediator is not a mediator of one, but in that case, YAHWEH who is God and God alone is the one and only mediator. [Galatians 3:20]

Question: “Is the Law then against the Promises of God?” [Galatians 3:21]

Answer: The answer to this question as it is written is, God forbid: “…If there had been a law which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.” [Galatians 3: 21]

Wake up to a neutralizing fact; the Big But:”But the scripture hath concluded all under sin.”[Galatians 3:22]

The Divine Purpose revealed: “That the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given that believe.” [Galatians 3:22]

Prior to Faith: “But before Faith came, we ( The children of  Israel) were kept under the law, shut up unto faith, — which should afterwards be revealed.” [Galatians 3:23]

Logical Scriptural Conclusion: Wherefore the law was their (the children of Israel) school master to bring them to Christ, “that they might be justified by faith.” [Galatians 3: 24]

The elimination of the schoolmaster, by the ushering in of Faith: But after that “faith is come,” Believers in the name of Yeshua/Jesus, among the offspring of Israel “are no longer under a school master.”[Galatians 3: 25]

Question: Who are children of Israel in Christ, in relation to the whole of Christ’s New Creation which includes People of all Nations in Christ with a common belief and with the experience of the indwelling Christ?

Answer: Today, those among the Children of Israel with a common “faith in Christ” are an integral part of, “All— the whole all Nations’ Children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Wake- Up to this truth and it will set you free! Christ’s New Creation in the New Testament of His shed blood is the one and only People of Yahweh, today. [Acts 15: 14-18]

Question: How do we know that individuals and groups have put on Christ?

Answer: “For as many of you that have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” [Galatians 3:27]                                                                                                                                End.

 The Big Sign and Distinction in the Culture of the Children of God and New Creation in Christ!

Beloved, make no mistake, the Big Sign and Distinction in the Culture of the Children of God and New Creation in Christ, is reflected in our daily lifestyle according to the Word of God:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one (People) in Christ.” [Galatians 3: 28]

The Scriptures Conclude

“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed and heirs according to promise.”[Galatians 3:29]

Beloved, you just can’t afford to miss out on this New Testament shower of blessings Yahweh has in store for you and for everyone who believes!!!

Reader, if you are not saved, or have doubted the Word of God, I urge you to Repent, in Jesus’ name:

“Repent you therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and He shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you (I am sure you would have heard of Jesus Christ before): whom the heavens have received until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of the prophets since the world began….” [Acts 3: 19-21]

Whisper a little prayer just where you are, please. Repent. Ask Yahweh to forgive you of your sins through Christ. Invite Jesus Christ into your heart and life by faith, and live for Him. Now declare that you are under the blood of Christ, and break generation curses from your life, in Jesus’ name.

Exercise your authority according to your faith

Now by faith command any of these that may be affecting you out of your life, in Jesus’ name. The spirit of: oppression, depression, confusion, corruption, jealousy, inferiority complex, slothfulness, gossip and strife, greed, poverty, sickness and disease, other stumbling blocks you may or may not know about.
Pray to Yahweh the Most High regularly through Jesus Christ His Son. Read your bible daily. God bless you. Amen.

A few weeks ago I was privileged to rescue a young pigeon that might have attempted to fly from a ceiling, but only made it to the ground, which is about 10 feet away from the outer ceiling of a shed where the others were.

At first I was not aware of the pigeon’s plight, but what caught my attention was when I went back to the shed to pick up a mat, I saw the bird walking and picking at whatever it could find to eat: and instead of fly away when it saw me, it ran to hide itself in a corner of the fence where there was a clump of shrubs. So I walked slowly up and caught it, but not before it ran into a patch of  “Lemon Grass,” which I dry and boil to make tea at times. Subsequently I carefully opened the bird’s mouth and fed it with raw rice a little at a time, followed by drops of water after that process was finished. That being done I put the bird on the top end of a stick which it gripped firmly, and I raised it to the ceiling and to my joy the bird stepped onto a lath in the ceiling.

The next morning at about 7: 00 AM when the sun burst the clouds, I went outside by the shed and lo, and behold, I saw the same grey colored pigeon on the ground again, by this time, to me, it looked a stronger bird. It stood in front the shed’s door gazing all around making slanting head glances to pick up sounds I suppose. So I told myself that I am going to catch the bird once more at least, and I came up with a strategy there and then.

I walked towards the fence and, by taking two dragging steps at a time and pause, and so on; I reached the front of it, braced its wall with my back and slowly dragged myself down in a stooping position under the sunlit sky.

The bird’s feathers of various shades of grey blended with two streaks of white ones on each side of its wings were a sight to behold as they glittered in the sunlight, even as it stood 1.5 meters away from in front of the shed’s door.  The bird looked at me every now and then as I edged my way closer to the doorway without scaring it, and when I reached directly in front of the door, it looked at me and looked away twice, perhaps trying to figure out where to run to escape, but I stooped there motionless. Subsequently I did a frog walk, a slow forward stretching movement in a stooping position, and the bird ran for cover, but I caught it before it could hide itself. It was fun.

The bird felt as comfortable as possible as I fed it, you know. It ate the rice and drank the water well. I was satisfied with the way the bird responded generally: and I also had the feeling that it would be stronger the next day and might even attempt to fly.

Happily, on the third day I saw the bird outside of my front gate along with two others. It was in good company, I thought. And as it walked around on the concrete bridge with a sense of readiness to flit away, I knew that it was saying to me, “thanks and goodbye,” in bird language.  I stood still in my front door and saw when the bird flew away.

My thoughts

My experience with the pigeon reminded me that man has fallen from the top, this is, from God’s glory, and has become psychologically conditioned to the earth-world, — its lust of the flesh, and that of the eyes, as well as the pride of life. But by God’s grace, however, man may be liberated and his lost possessions restored through Yahweh’s Salvation Plan for all, which is by faith in Jesus Christ His Son. And whosoever believes will be saved; will put on immortality and fly away at the appointed time to a more glorious earth in eternity. It is written, “And I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea….” [Revelation 21:1]

Yahweh, I pray: even so Lord Jesus, come quickly! Amen.

Message

 Beloved, Yahweh our heavenly Father made our first parents Adam and Eve, who came out from his side, natural but perfect, and covered them with His glory for as long as they had kept His covenant with them. [Genesis 2:15] It is written:

“The first man Adam was made a living soul. He is of the earth, earthy … as is the earthy, such are they that is earthy.” [1 Corinthians 15:47-48]

Adam being earthy transgressed the commandment and covenant Yahweh had challenged him to keep, while he was in the Garden East of Eden where He had put him to perform certain basic duties, such as, to cultivate it and to protect it. [Genesis 2:15] And due to simple disobedience our first parents came short of the Glory of the Most High, and they automatically fell under the authority of another entity in opposition to Yahweh’s Word and Rule. No wonder when our first parents Adam and Eve heard the “voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day” they hid themselves from His presence, “amongst the trees of the garden.”[Genesis 3: 8]

Nevertheless, in spite of the failures of our first Parents Adam and Eve, Yahweh because of His love for His earthly creation and their future off-springs, He made an on-the-spot promise when He said that He would put enmity between the satanic empowered serpent and the woman, and between the seed (one seed) of the serpent and the seed (one seed) of the woman. As a result of “it”(the enmity, or hostility) Christ the seed of the woman should bruise the serpent on its head, and in the process, the heel (the part under the foot) of seed of the woman should be bruised, He said. [Genesis 3:15]

Beloved, that promised of Genesis 3:15 was fulfilled in the forty second (42nd) generation, that is, from Abraham to Christ, the Seed of the Woman, who came to destroyed the works of the devil. [1 John 3: 8] And He Christ destroyed the works of the devil “in the time of Reformation,” A.D. 33, [Hebrews 9: 10 & 11-14] when He was crucified at Calvary, buried and rose again from the dead, and afterwards ascended into heaven and sat at the right hand of God His heavenly Father. And “… having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” [Colossians 2:15] Subsequently, He became the head of all principality and power, by spiritual conquest, if you please. Let us praise the name of JESUS. Amen? Amen. It is written:

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the the Godhead bodily.” [Colossians 2: 8-9]  Concerning the Godhead it is written:

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.” [Deuteronomy 6: 4]

Again,

“I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me.” [Isaiah 45: 5 & 6]

Beloved, Yahweh, before the foundation of the world had purposed in His heart and according to His good pleasure, that whosoever  believes  in the name of JESUS, he/she shall be set free from sin, bondage and death, by His shed blood. [1 Peter 18-21]This seed of the woman of whom Yahweh spoke was unlike the first Adam: He was the second Adam.

The second Adam was not made a living soul as the first Adam; instead, He is “a quickening Spirit” (a living giving spirit.) “The second Adam is the Lord from heaven.”[1 Corinthians 15: 47] And since JESUS “is the bread of life which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world,” he is the second Adam. [ John 6:33 & 35 -51] Let us give Yahweh the highest praise! Hallelujaaaaaaah!

It took centuries of spiritual evolution on the part of the tribe of Judah for Christ to have come through that Davidic lineage of which Mary His earthly mother was born. It is amazing to know the power and the effects of the quickening Spirit in Christ, dwelling within a human body. First without the Spirit of Christ, we are none of His. Besides, the quickening Spirit in Christ Jesus, by its nature gives life to our mortal bodies that were initially dead to righteousness because we had used them to faithfully serve the law of sin and death. But thanks be to Yahweh, that by His abounding mercy and grace towards all mankind, we who believe from the heart the Word of God; have purposed in our hearts not to walk after the flesh as the first Adam: but, rather, after the Spirit. And with this renewed mind set we have been set free from serving the law of sin and death, by faith through the power of the precious blood of Jesus Christ. [1 Peter 1:18-19]

The Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is a catalyst by which the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us (believers) who walk not after the desires of our own flesh, but after the Spirit. As a result, we sinners of the flesh by His merit [Romans 8: 3-4] and through faith in Christ condemn and overcome sin in the flesh when we believe the Word. It is written:

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made us free from the law of sin and death.” (1.e., total separation from the life of God) [Romans 8:2] Praise be to Yahweh our heavenly Father! Thank you, heavenly Father, for JESUS your Son.

Again,

“But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Christ from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.[Romans  8: 11]

Beloved, according to the scripture I say emphatically that we owe the flesh absolutely nothing that we are obliged  to live after it, or to obey its sinful and lustful desires. Obeying the whims and fancies of the lower self, which is the flesh, is a common experience known to us all…. But what some may not envisage is that anyone, who allows sin to control his/her body is a servant to it, or whatever he/she obeys: but there is hope in Christ. Hope for all, since there is none, but one who is righteous. And He is Christ the second Adam, who is a quickening Spirit. [1 Corinthians 15:45]

Thus with Christ dwelling within whosoever invites Him into his/her life to stay, and means it; automatically establishes a right relationship with Yahweh, through their union with Christ His Son. Thus with the life giving Spirit in Christ dwelling in the physical body of the living soul, it, the Spirit, transmits life the mortal body of the believer. The body now brought to life by the Spirit, is enabled to stand up against the pressures of the lustful desires working in the believer’s members and warring against the law of his mind to bring him into captivity to the law of sin. As a result of constant resistance toward sin, he/she progressively becomes dead to sin as he/she overcomes it by faith, even as they remain obedient to the Word and the leading of the Spirit of God. [Romans 7: 23-24]  It is written:

“Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him. Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more: death hath no more dominion over Him. For that He died, He died unto sin once: but in that He liveth, he liveth unto God.” [Romans 6: 10-11]

Death having dominion over mankind should be a major concern to all. However I am not naïve to think that all share this concern, but to everyone who believes and continues in God’s Word: “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free,” including me. —. [John 8:32

Beloved, spiritual Death, that is, to be totally separated from the life of God in Christ Jesus; is a curse. And as Christ the holy and blessed One, whom Death has no more dominion: let the  onus be ours who believe, to allow Christ to live our lives for Himself that we all might triumph over the dominion of physical Death, — at His coming. [1 Corinthians 15: 51-57]

Finally, consider now that as the risen and ascended Christ lives unto God His heavenly Father: let us reckon also ourselves to be dead indeed unto sin,” but alive unto God, through Jesus Christ our Lord.” [Romans 6:11] Amen! Amen and “Aaaamen.” Let it be so! Give Yahweh glory!!!

Introduction:

Beloved, the Book of Acts, or the Acts of the Holy Spirit may be put into two phases: the first phase begins from Acts Chapter one and ends at Acts Chapter eight: and the second phase, from Chapter 9 to Chapter 28 which has to do mainly with Paul the Apostle and those who had accompanied him on his missionary journeys. For example, Dr. Luke, Barnabas, John Mark, Silas and Timothy, just to mention a few. However, the geographic locations where witnessing was done for Christ in the first phase of the Book of Acts are the focus in this post. 
Message

The Order of Geographic Locations to be witnessed to

Beloved, the geographic locations where witnessing was done for Christ in the first phase of the Book of Acts are the focus in this post. It is amazing to see how the Holy Spirit led and used Peter and/or other Disciples of Christ of the early Church at Jerusalem to witness for Christ, in harmony with Acts 1: 8. For example, in carrying out the Great Commission Christ’s Apostles had witnessed unto Him first, at Jerusalem, then at Judea and at Samaria, where Philip the Deacon, [Acts 6: 1-7] had witnessed for Christ and had evangelized. [Acts 8: 4-15] Now after Samaria, Christ commanded His followers to witness to the “uttermost part of the earth,” [Acts 1: 8] or further afield.

Ethiopia in focus through Yahweh’s intervention with the Ethiopian Eunuch

Interestingly, after Samaria, the next geographic location that was in divine focus was Ethiopia, some 1, 593 miles, or 2.567 Km from Jerusalem. And it is abundantly clear, that through Yahweh’s intervention which led to the conversion of the Ethiopia Eunuch [who was travelling through Gaza (this is desert) which was some 72 miles away from Samaria on his way back home to Ethiopia his motherland, that he the Eunuch was Yahweh’s chosen  vessel to preach Christ there. And the scriptural proof of that choice lies in the undeniable fact that Yahweh’s Angel directed Philip, who was in Samaria at that time [Acts 8: 26] to the Ethiopian Eunuch when he said to him:

“Arise, and go towards the South unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.” [Acts 8: 26] 

Beloved, according to the scripture:

“And he arose and went: and, behold a man of Ethiopia, a Eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship, was returning, and sitting in His chariot read Isaiah the prophet. Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

And Philip ran thither (over) to him, and heard him read the Isaiah, and said, understandeth thou what thou readest? And He said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him….” [Acts 8: 26-31]

The Eunuch’s Declaration

Beloved, Philip under the leading of the Spirit preached Jesus to the Ethiopian Eunuch with positive results, namely the new convert had voluntarily declared before Yahweh in heaven, and publicly before Philip, who he believed Jesus Christ was, even before Philip, who had baptized Samaria “in the name of the Lord Jesus,” [Acts 8: 12 & 16] had baptized him. And after the Spirit of God caught away Philip, the Ethiopian witness for Christ, whom God Himself prepared and empowered in the desert “went on his way rejoicing. [Acts 8: 39]

Beloved, as all the other conversions to Christ at Jerusalem, and at Judea and at Samaria, the Ethiopian Eunuch, who was a Jew outwardly before he was converted to Christ, understood somewhat the seriousness of the stance he took when he declared, “Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” [Matthew 16: 17; Acts 8:37]

The Ethiopian Eunuch’s stance upon the Word of God guaranteed:

1. That he had denounced the Law and had embraced Jesus Christ, who is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. That he was saved upon hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ: through Philip whom the Angel of the Lord guided to him at Gaza, for the Word of faith was in his mouth and in his heart so much so that he confessed “the Lord Jesus.” It is written:

If one shall confess with his mouth “the Lord Jesus,” and shall believe in his/her heart        that God raised Him from the dead, he/she shall be saved. “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” [Romans 9: 6-10]

2. That the Ethiopian Eunuch was no longer a Jew which was one outwardly, but instead, he was one of the many saved by grace, who was miraculously transformed into a “Jew which is one inwardly,” by the power of the Holy Spirit [Romans 2: 28-29]
3. That his “circumcision which had been “outward in the flesh” profited him nothing, for it was no longer acknowledged by Yahweh the Most High
4. That his circumcision in Christ, or change of his heart and of his mind was Yahweh’s will for his life. [Romans 2: 28-29]
5. That as one of Christ’s new creation he by the grace of Yahweh had become fit to be a partaker of the inheritance in light, the mere fact that our heavenly Father had delivered him from the power of darkness and had translated him into the kingdom of Christ His dear Son. [Colossians 1:13]Thanks to Yahweh
6. That the living Christ was now his eternal High Priest in the more perfect Tabernacle in heaven: not made with hands as the earthly Tabernacle at Jerusalem in which he had previously worshiped, and which Yahweh had abandoned “in the time of Reformation,” in A.D. 33-34. [Hebrews 9:10-11; 9: 1-10, ]
7. That the blood of Christ; and not of bulls, calves and of goats…, had purged his conscience from dead works to serve Yahweh the living God. [Hebrews 9: 12-14]
8. That through the new Covenant in Christ blood” there is remission of sins and iniquities, that was why he did not have to offering anything animal or thing to take away his sin
9. That he had received boldness through his faith in Christ, who is the High Priest over the house of God, to enter into the holiest in the true Tabernacle in heaven, by the blood of Jesus Christ, by a new and living way which He had consecrated for us— through His flesh. [Hebrews 10: 17-21], and
10. That he was liberated by the power of God, and was free to worship Him in Spirit and in truth. [John 4: 23-24].

We cannot go wrong if we from the heart believe the Word 

 Beloved, in the midst of all the misinterpretations, biases and confusion of the scripture today…, the Acts of the Holy Spirit among the Apostles of Christ, in the specific Geographic locations, namely, first, Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and in the life of Philip and that of the Ethiopian Eunuch are enough to help the backsliding Church find its way back on the right tract to God. And through obedience to His Word, come to  know the true God in a personal way and to worship Him in Spirit and in truth;  in Jesus’ name.

As for me, I cherish the Legacy and New Testament Model Yahweh has handed down directly to us, for our liberation from sin and bondage, through his intervention with our brother the Ethiopian Eunuch on his way back home as he was passing through Gaza (which is desert). [Acts 8: 26-39]

And I remain resolute in my conviction, even as I  run with my adopted Legacy, share the pure Gospel according to our New Testament Model, and thus, be a witness for Christ to all men: and pray for the soul salvation of all nations, who would believe, in Jesus name. Amen.

About the Commission of Matthew 28:19-20

The Commission of Matthew 28:19-20 at Mount Olive was a generalization of the Mission which Jesus the Christ passed on to His present and future followers to be occupied in until He returns.  It is obvious; however, that the very Commission neither implied nor stated directly how the powerless disciples were to proceed with regard to a specific local area and starting point, where they as a church would first launch their campaign. It was therefore left opened to further instruction by Christ.

Further Instructions at Mt. Olivet

It is noteworthy though that the resurrected Christ, being assembled at Mt. Olivet with His Disciples, who would continue His Ministry commanded them that:

“They should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, said He  ye have heard of me. For John truly baptize with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”[Acts 1:4]

Further,

“… Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the utmost parts of the world. [Acts 1: 4-5 & 8]

Christ’s Ascension

Beloved, with the above mentioned being said, the resurrected Christ was taken up from them into heaven. “And a cloud received Him out of there sight.  And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which(who) is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into heaven.” [Acts 1: 9-11] Subsequently, they returned to Jerusalem from Mt. Olivet.

Inside the Upper Room at Jerusalem

And at Jerusalem they went into the upper room and put into practice what the risen and ascended Jesus had commanded them to do, for they, along with others, “continued with one accord, in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus and with His brethren.” [Acts 1: 12-14] And after being in that prayer and supplication mood for the tenth day, that is, counting from the day Jesus the Christ had ascended into heaven and sat on the right hand of Yahweh His heavenly Father, they received the Holy Spirit of promise. “It is written:

 “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance.” [Acts 2: 1-4] Amen.

 Beloved, His Disciples (about 120) having remained in Jerusalem where they had waited in the Upper Room in prayer and supplications, were finally rewarded for obeying the commands of the resurrected Christ, who after His ascension into heaven still continued to command them,  who had become Holy Ghost filled on the day of Pentecost. And it is worthy to note that that on the day of Pentecost Peter’s speech at Jerusalem and that entire events of that day marked the successful launching of Christ’s Commission to them to evangelize the World according to His systemic geographic plan and direction, that is, to start from Jerusalem, next to Judea, then to Samaria and further afield, namely the utmost part of the earth. [Acts 1: 8]

The post outpouring effects of the Holy Spirit

And that phenomenon which was “noised abroad” brought to the scene multitudes of Jews, who had returned to Jerusalem for the feast of Pentecost, and they were confounded because “every man heard them speak in his own language…” And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others mocking said, these men are full of new wine.” [Acts 2:12-13]

Beloved, on the day of Pentecost the Jewish spectators were confused after they each heard their language being spoken by Galileans, and others mocked and said that they were “filled with new wine.” But Peter stood up with the eleven and addressed the “men at Judea and all those who dwelt at Jerusalem.”

In his speech on that historical day of Pentecost, Peter the Apostle first explained to gathering that they were not drunk as they had supposed, for it was just nine o’clock in the morning, but what they had heard and witnessed was due to the out pouring of the Spirit in the last days according to the prophesy of Joel the Prophet. And the rest of His of message was focused on the centrality of Christ, and He boldly made His audience know the undeniable facts below:-

1. That Jesus the Christ of Nazareth was a man approved by God among them, by the miracles and signs and wonders, which God did by Him in their midst
2. That by being delivered by the determinate council and foreknowledge of God, they had taken Him, and by the wicked hands have crucified and slain Him
3. That God raised Him (Jesus Christ) from the dead, having loosed Him from the pains of death, since death could not bind or hold Him.
4. That David spoke of Jesus of Nazareth when he said, “I saw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved … moreover my flesh shall rest in hope: because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy one to see corruption. Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.
5. That God had sworn with an oath to the Patriarch David that with the fruits of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit on His throne; and that David foreseeing that promise as a future reality spoke of the resurrection of Christ, “that His soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.”
6. That,”This Jesus hath God raised up, wherefore we are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He shed forth this (event) which ye now see and hear,” and
7. That “God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified both Lord and Christ.” [Acts 2: 14-36]

The Effects of Peter’s message

1. Beloved, at that point of the climax of His message, “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified both Lord and Christ,” they had become pricked in their heart [Acts 2: 14-36] and had asked Peter and the rest of the Apostles, “Men and brethren what shall we do?”

2. In His response to their question “Men and brethren what shall we do?” Peter, who was filled with the Holy Ghost, and was under the command of the ascended Christ in heaven, said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, for the promise is unto you, and your children and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord God shall call.”[Acts 2:38]

The Revealed Procedure of Baptism put into practice with immediate effect

3. According to the scripture, “Then they that gladly received the Word were baptized: and the same day were added unto them (the 120 followers of Christ) about three thousand (3ooo) souls. And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.” [Acts 2: 41-42]

Beloved, the mere fact that Jesus Christ was a real man who was crucified died and buried and that God His heavenly Father raised Him up from the dead is the reason why we Believes have hope, and hope that is beyond the grave. Interestingly, the Patriarch David an Ancestor of Jesus the Christ and one who lived twenty eight generation before Christ, knew that God had sworn to him with and oath to him, “that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit on his throne foresaw that coming event, and spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that “His soul was not left in hell (grave) neither His flesh did see corruption.” [Acts 2: 31]

Also,

Job “the perfect and upright man” [Job 1: 1] of the Old Testament Kingdom of God, expressed his hope in the resurrection of Jesus Christ his Redeemer, when he said,

“I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that He shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God; whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins (eyes) be consumed within me.” [Job 19: 25-27]

Beloved, as the Prophets of the Old Testament, and the Apostles and saints of the New Testament, we, who from the heart have believed the Word do have hope also. And our hope is in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has become “the first fruit of them that slept,” (Believers in Christ who would have died in hope) and He has assured us through His Word that we will live again at His coming. [John 5:28-29, 11:25,]  And we take our faith in Christ, in whose resurrection we have hope, to the next level, that is, to the water of baptism to be baptized by immersion, and in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins…, — the one baptism that symbolizes that we have been baptized into Jesus’ death. Additionally, it assures us that, “We are buried with Jesus Christ by baptism unto death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so also we shall walk in the newness of life,” both in this life and in the life hereafter. The rational is: for if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death, we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.  Let us give Yahweh the highest praise! Hallelujaaaaaaah!!! Amen.
