Happy Emancipation to all my Brothers and Sisters around the World!!!
Today August 1, 2017 marks t 179 (1838-2017) years since our Ancestors were given full Emancipation, with the exception of Antigua and the Island of Bermuda which received their freedom almost immediately in 1834, because their Assembly did not adopt the four years Apprenticeship Plan. Thus after 400 years of hard labor under harsh working conditions and physical, mental, emotional … abuse plenty, and in all fashions, even death could not break our ancestors’ resilience against slavery.
But thanks be to God, with His help and with that of the advocates of abolition whom He had inspired and used, our Ancestors received “Full Freedom” with effect from Wednesday, August 1, 1838. Thanks to our Ancestors for the great sacrifice they have made for us throughout the Americas and the West Indies in order for us to see a better day. And Praise Yahweh for Freedom.
Beloved, with the cat-o’- nine tail off our backs, mental slavery seems to have taken its place. Instead of thinking for ourselves, in most cases we live off of borrowed ideas, habits and even customs that reflect a lifestyle that can be traced back to the plantation. As a result, while we are physically free to a point, our minds are grossly enslaved, because we were never made to think for ourselves. And may I say that having long letters behind one’s name does not necessarily say that he/she has the ability to think outside of the box, and think wisely enough to bring about positive and continuous changes for the benefit of all, one way or the other. We all need Yahweh, and His wisdom from above to unwind the invisible rings wrapped around our people …. Amen.
Slavery is originated in man’s old nature
If man does not know himself or does not care to know about himself, he is doom to failure at the end of his journey on the earth, when the deeds of his lower nature which is in opposition to God’s Word should have been judged. If however, man repents now and returns to God and follows the deeds of his higher nature as led by the Holy Spirit, he is bound to succeed at the end of his sojourn on earth when his deeds should have been judged.
Man is dual
Know that apart from the physical man or outer man being enslaved: the inward man or the spirit man is also enslaved in each individual when it is under the control of sin’s power. Yahweh has given everyone the power to choose. And within man there are two options to choose from:
- One can either choose to serve sin, the wages of which is death, which is working within his members on one hand.
- One can choose to be emancipated by God’s mercy and saving grace on the other hand.
The Lower Nature at work
Man who enslaves his fellow man is himself first and foremost a first class slave to sin. And sin becomes his Master: by his own free will and by his zeal to fulfill his greedy lust and desires of the flesh to get power and wealth at the expense of others; even by shedding innocent blood if possible….
It is through the Word of God that we understand the root causes of such narcissistic and inhumane behaviors. For example, (1) “The Perpetrators of the slave trade, and the Plantocracy (i.e.,the Planters) and their managers et al;” and (2) the conspiracy between the chief priest and Saul of Tarsus which led them to furnish him with letters to “Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem,” so he thought. [Acts 9: 2]
Beloved, prior to his visit to the high priest, let us read the following about the manifestation of Saul’s lower nature, and understand why he allowed his inward-man or his spirit-man to be over powered by sin his then Master.
“And Saul, yet breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest…. Do you see when man yields himself to sin how it works up within him like poison …. Saul’s zeal for his religion pushed him over board, but the same God, who caused a light from heaven to shine round about him, and stopped him in his tracts, extended his mercy and grace to him, when he surrendered his lower nature and his will to the Lordship of Christ, who said to him:
The Dialogue
Jesus: “Saul, Saul, why persecutes thou me? [Acts9: 4]
Saul: “Who art thou, Lord?”[Acts 5: 5]
Jesus: “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest; it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.” [Acts 9:5]
Saul: “Lord what will thou have me do? He asked trembling and astonished, of course.” [Acts 9:6] End
“Beloved it is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of the living God.”[Hebrews 10:31]
God forgives our spirit-man’s sin the moment he cries out to Him for mercy
You see, when the spirit man or inward man sins: God forgives his sin the moment he cries out to Him for mercy, and he is set free in a miraculous way, and will remain free for as long as he continues to serve Yahweh through Christ Jesus. Also when the inward man receives Christ in his heart he receives a new nature by which he serves God. So it is imperative to have His new nature for it is sinless and through it the inward-man or spirit-man serves and worships Yahweh in spirit and in truth. [John 4:23-24] Let us make sure that we have God’s forgiveness. Amen? Amen.
The carnal mind cannot serve God
Many would have loved to serve Yahweh, yielding to their lower nature, but it is impossible to do so because man’s very lower nature is a fallen one. It is rebellious and contrary to God’s ways and will never please God. Living and yielding to the lower nature leads to death. It is written, “To be carnally minded is death….” [Romans 8: 6]
This is your Moment of inward change/ transformation
Beloved, every man is a slave to something. Man chooses to be a slave to sin by his own free will, and it becomes his Master. And he believes that the manifestation of the lower nature is always just and right, until he brings down the wrath of God upon himself. [Acts 9:1-6]
Here is an opportunity for you to have a personal talk with God, our heavenly Father, just where you are. If you have been allowing sin working in your members to control your inward-man or spirit-man, then you may put a stop to it right here and right now, by faith in Jesus’ name.
Just lay any burden you may be carrying at Jesus’ feet. Repent and return to God our heavenly Father, and make peace with Him. Receive Christ into your heart by faith and live for Him. Read your Bible and pray often. Do fellowship with a Bible believing group. May God richly bless you.
